GPAT: Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test

The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to select suitable Pharmacy graduates for admission into the Master's (M.Pharm) program in various institutions. Till 2018, it was conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

The GPAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session. The GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. A few scholarships and other financial assistance in the field of Pharmacy are also given on the basis of the GPAT score.

GPAT Important Dates

Submission of online application form: November

Uploading the scanned images of Candidate’s Photograph and Signature (Upto 11.50 p.m.): 1st November - Decembe

Last date for payment of application fees (through Credit/Debit Card/ Net Banking and through e-challan: November to December

Date of GPAT Examination: January

Timing of Examination: 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.

Availability of Admit Cards from NTA’s website: From December last week

Declaration of Result on NTA’s website:  February

GPAT Eligibility Criteria

a. Candidate must be a citizen of India.
b. Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (4 years after 10+2, including lateral entry candidates).
c. Candidates who are in their final year of B. Pharmacy course are also eligible to appear for GPAT exam.
d. Candidates having a B.Tech (Pharmaceutical and fine chemical technology) degree / other equivalent degree are not eligible to appear for GPAT examination.

Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) Application Process

The candidates can register online for Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) on the official GPAT registration website https://gpat.nta.nic.in/

GPAT Application Fee

  • For general/ Non-creamy OBC candidates: Rs. 2000  applicable bank charges
  • For female/ SC/ ST/ PwD candidates: Rs. 1000   applicable bank charges
  • For Transgender candidates: Rs. 1000   applicable bank charges
  • Note: Fees is subject to change time to time according to policy decisions.

GPAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test or GPAT is going to be a computer based (online) test. The exam pattern for GPAT is as follows:
  • The duration of the GPAT will be 180 minutes
  • The question would comprise of 125 multiple choice questions where every correct answer earns you 4 marks and there will be negative marking of 1 mark each for every wrong answer.
  • While answering the questions, you are allowed to jump back and forth between the questions in order of your choice.
