All India Chess Federation (AICF)

Founded in 1951, the All India Chess Federation (AICF) is the central administrative body for the game of chess in India. The federation is affiliated to Fédération Internationale des échecs (FIDE), the world body for chess. The Federation which is known to produce champions like Viswanathan Anand, Nihal Sarin, and many other grandmasters is also in charge of managing women's chess in India.

AICF FAQs

I have renewed another player’s id by mistake , what to do?

You can send the payment proof and we will get it correct.

How to change my FIDE flag to Indian and explain the procedure?

A request can be send to AICF to change the flag. Hence, necessary FIDE fee will be applicable

Explain the procedure to register with AICF, and let me know if it is compulsory to register with state/district?

You can register online. Most of the state associations however expect the players to be registered with them, while registering with AICF, kindly check with your respective state associations.

I am a rated player but have not played in any rated tournament for many years now. And hence I do not remember my fide id and I cannot find my name in the fide rating list.

You need to let us know about the name of the tournaments that you have participated recently (if the rating has gone below 1000, the player will become unrated).

I have done my AICF registration. Can you let me know the status of my FIDE id. as I have to play in a rated tournament soon.

It takes 3 working days for AICF to create a FIDE id, you can send a mail to AICF with the Subject: FIDE ID CREATION and it will be done asap.

I had done a online registration but it is still pending. I have also paid the money online and it has been debited from my account but not showing necessary credit in the system?

You need to send your transaction id and date to do the needful.

I have paid my player registration/Arbiter registration twice, will it be possible to adjust the excess amount paid for next year ?

No, there is no such option to adjust the money for the next year. However, the extra money can be returned to your bank account. You are required to share your bank details to process the necessary refund.

What can it be done when we have two FIDE ids?

You can send the details of both the FIDE Ids to ratings.aicf@gmail.com with a copy to indianchessfed@gmail.com. After the required payment of fees is made, the performance of both the Ids will be merged and one FIDE Id will be deleted. A charge of Euros 50 has to be made for the same.

I have done my registration through FIDE online arena, so can I participate in rating tournament, if yes, what is the procedure. If no, Why?

Yes, one can participate in rating tournament with their online arena FIDE Id. However, AICF players registration is mandatory, if you are a Indian citizen.

I have a wrong photo in AICF / FIDE.

You need to send your correct photo to indianchessfed@gmail.com by mentioning your AICF & FIDE Id for correcting the same.
