Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Scope and Opportunities

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) was formed in 1963. Currently it has 67 batallions and 76,337 active personnel. The agency comes under the purview of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India. For the year 2018-19 government has allocated a budget of Rs. 4,929.90 crore which is equivalent to US$720 million. SSB is Federal Law Enforcement agency and works under Sashastra Seema Bal Act, 2007. Its Headquarters is based in New Delhi. The Central Armed Police Force (CRPF) is the parent agency of SSB.

The SSB has celebrated its Golden Jubilee Year in 2013. The SSB personnel are trained forces are trained in different types of warefare techniques. The rank structure of SSB personnels is as follows:

How to join Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB)

For the recruitment of Assistant Commandant in SSB the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts competitive examination. While posts of SIs/GD(DE) and Constables(GD) are filled through competitive examination held by Staff Selection Commission (SSC).
