Indian Navy Artificer Apprentices Sailors Recruitment

The Artificer Apprentices in Indian Navy is responsible for maintaining the navy's equipment including high end state of the art Radars, Sonars, Gun Mountings, Torpedoes, Navigational Systems, Propulsion Systems and Engines. Their job specification includes working on electrical power systems, computers and highly advanced radio, sensors avionic equipment, guided missiles and other automatically controlled weapon, diesel and gas turbines and steam powered machinery.

The Artificer Apprentices are provided with two months of basic naval orientation training at INS Chilka which mostly includes strenuous physical activities like PT, parade etc. The Artificer Apprentices are further trained for two years in various schools specializing in their respective branches. Once they complete their training, they get their first appointment in Indian Naval Ships. However, they are still Apprentices without a proper rank and serve for another six months onboard before promoting to the rank of Artificer V (or Artificer Fifth Class).

Artificer Apprentices Sailors in Indian Navy Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Indian

Age: 17-20 years as on the day of enrolment

Qualification: Candidates should have successfully completed their 10 2 examination scoring a minimum of 60% aggregate marks with Maths & Physics and any one of the following subjects - Chemistry/Biology/Computer science from a recognized Central/State Government educational board.

Artificer Apprentices Sailors in Indian Navy Training & Advancement

Candidates are required to undergo a nine weeks’ Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by a Professional training in the allotted trade at various Naval Training Establishments. The Branch/ Trade will be allocated as per the requirement of Service.

Artificer Apprentices are eligible to pursue various professional courses as per Service requirement. The Indian Navy Artificer Apprenticeship Diploma is also recognized by the Ministry of Human Resources Development.

Artificer Apprentices Sailors in Indian Navy Application Process

Candidates applying for more than one type of entry are required to submit separate applications. However, only one application form is to be filled for a particular entry. Choice of entry is to be clearly indicated on the application form. Applications are received only through Ordinary Post. Applications received through speed post/ registered post or couriers are rejected.
