ITBP Recruitment Examinations

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was formed on 24 October 1962. Currently it has 89,432 active personnel. The Government of India (GoI) has allocated a budget of Rs. 5,521.67 crore for year 2018-19 which is equivalent of US$820 million. In the beginning ITBP started with 4 battalions; however, by 2017 its strength rose to 56 battalions. The agency comes under the administration of Ministry of Home Affairs (MFA), Government of India.
In the start, the ITBP forces were deployed to protect India's border with China's Tibet Autonomous Region but later they are given more responsibilities. Now we can see ITBP forces both on and off the war field. They are trained in Civil Medical Camp, disaster management, and nuclear, biological and chemical disasters. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has two battalions of ITBP for its service.
Also, they have been deployed abroad in the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Haiti, Western Sahara, Sudan, Afghanistan and elsewhere.
The Director General (DG) is supreme authority of ITBP.
