Sitaram Jindal Scholarship

The Sitaram Jindal Scholarship is offered by the Sitaram Jindal Foundation, a charitable organization in Bengaluru. It is a merit-cum-means based scholarship scheme that aims to provide financial assistance to deserving meritorious candidates who belong to underprivileged families. The candidates need to be studying in class 11 to post-graduation in order to be eligible for Sitaram Jindal Scholarship. The scholarship covers Polytechnic and Diploma courses in technical education as well. The selected students can avail up to INR 2500 per month scholarship amount under this scholarship scheme.

Benefits:
The Scholarship is segregated into different categories as per the courses. The value of the scholarship amounts up to INR 2500 per month which is received by students having different qualifications.

Given below is the detailed description about the scholarship amount disbursed among selected students.

Category ‘A’ (Class 11 & 12):
  • INR 500
Category ‘B’ ITI students:
  • INR 500 (For government ITIs)
  • INR 700 (For private ITIs)
Category ‘C’ (Graduate & postgraduate courses):

For graduate courses:
  • INR 1000 (Girls of General category)
  • INR 800 (Boys of General category)
  • INR 1000 (Physically challenged students)
  • INR 1200 (Widows & unmarried wards of Ex-servicemen)
For postgraduate courses:
  • INR 1200 (Girls of General category)
  • INR 1000 (Boys of General category)
  • INR 1200 (Physically challenged students)
  • INR 1500 (Widows & unmarried wards of Ex-servicemen)
Category ‘D’ (Diploma courses)
  • INR 1200 (Girls)
  • INR 1000 (Boys)
Category ‘E’ (Engineering & Medicine courses)
  • INR 1700 (For girls pursuing engineering courses)
  • INR 1500 (For boys pursuing engineering courses)
  • INR 2000 (For girls studying medicine courses)
  • INR 1800 (For boys studying medicine courses)
  • INR 2500 (For girls pursuing PG courses in engineering & medicine courses)
  • INR 2300 (For boys pursuing PG courses in engineering & medicine courses)
For students staying in hostel
  • INR 800 (Additional amount for hosteller pursuing ITI/Diploma, Graduate/PG courses)
  • INR 1200 (Additional amount for hosteller pursuing Medical, Engineering courses including PG courses)

Sitaram Jindal Scholarship Important Dates

Jindal scholarship remains open throughout the year.  The eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship as and when required. However, the candidate can apply for the scholarship only once in the duration of their course.

Sitaram Jindal Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Category ‘A’
  1. Candidates must be studying in class 11 and 12
  2. The male candidates must have scored at least 65% marks in the previous exam and girls must have scored a minimum 60% marks to be eligible. However, students of Karnataka with a score of at least 75% marks in case of boys & 70% marks in case of girls are eligible. West Bengal students with minimum 70% marks (in case of boys) in the last exam and 65% marks (in case of girls) can apply.
  3. In case of those in employment, the annual family income must not be more than INR 4 Lakh.
  4. For other students, the annual family income must not be more than INR 2.5 Lakh.
  5. The candidates must not be more than 30 years of age.
Category ‘B’
  1. The candidates must pursue ITI courses from any government or private institute.
  2. The male candidates applying for the scholarship must have scored at least 50% marks in the last exam and female candidates must have scored a minimum 40% to be eligible.
  3. In case of those in employment, the annual family income must not be more than INR 4 Lakh.
  4. For other students, the annual family income must not be more than INR 2.5 Lakh.
  5. The candidates must not be more than 30 years of age.
Category ‘C’
For graduate courses:
  1. The candidates must be studying graduate courses to be eligible.
  2. The candidates must have secured at least 60% marks (in case of boys) and 55% marks (in case of girls) in the previous exam. However, students of Karnataka must have secured a minimum 70% marks (in case of boys) in the last exam and 65% marks (in case of girls) and West Bengal students must have obtained at least 65% in case of boys and 60% marks in case of girls.
  3. In case of those in employment, the annual family income must not be more than INR 4 Lakh.
  4. For other students, the annual family income must not be more than INR 2.5 Lakh.
  5. The candidates must not be more than 30 years of age.
For postgraduate courses:
  1. The candidates must be studying graduate courses to be eligible.
  2. The candidates must have secured at least 65% marks (in case of boys) and 60% marks (in case of girls) in the previous exam. However, students of Karnataka must have secured a minimum 70% marks (in case of boys) in the last exam and 65% marks (in case of girls).
  3. In case of those in employment, the annual family income must not be more than INR 4 Lakh.
  4. For other students, the annual family income must not be more than INR 2.5 Lakh.
  5. The candidates must not be more than 30 years of age.
Category ‘D’
  1. The candidates must be pursuing diploma courses like Civil Engg., Computer Science, Chemical, Automobile Tech., Nursing, Pharmacy & Physiotherapy and environment-related courses.
  2. The candidates must have secured at least 60% marks (in case of boys) and 55% marks (in case of girls) in the previous exam.
  3. In case of those in employment, the annual family income must not be more than INR 4 Lakh.
  4. For other students, the annual family income must not be more than INR 2.5 Lakh.
  5. The candidates must not be more than 30 years of age.
Category ‘E’
  1. The candidates must be studying engineering, medicine and architecture courses.
  2. MDS students are not eligible to avail the scholarship.
  3. The applicants must have secured at least 70% marks (in case of boys) and 65% marks (in case of girls) in the previous exam.
  4. However, students of Karnataka and West Bengal must have secured a minimum 75% marks (in case of boys) in the last exam and 70% marks (in case of girls).
  5. In case of those in employment, the annual family income must not be more than INR 4 Lakh.
  6. For other students, the annual family income must not be more than INR 2.5 Lakh.
  7. The candidates must not be more than 30 years of age.
Note:

For the differently-abled candidates,  the eligibility percentage of marks is pass marks in all the categories.
The minimum required percentage marks for the continuation of Jindal scholarship is relaxed by 5%.

Required Documents:
The candidates applying for Sitaram Jindal Scholarship need to attach some important documents with the completed application form to support their academic credentials. Find below the list of important documents to be attached with the scholarship form.
  1. Copy of SSLC/HSC scorecard
  2. Copy of the last examination
  3. Copy of the income certificate
  4. Copy of merit certificate (applicable for Medical, Engineering, Diploma and MBA students)
  5. Copy of certificates regarding fees paid (applicable for Medical, Engineering, Diploma and MBA students)
  6. Certificate from the hostel warden (for hostellers)
  7. Certificate of physical disability from the competent authority (if applicable)
  8. PPO, Relationship dependency certificate and Ex-servicemen widow I-card (for widows and ex-servicemen)
