BITS Higher Degree ME Admission Test

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani administers Higher Degree i.e. Admission Test for entry into first year / first semester Higher Degree programs leading to award of Master of Engineering (ME). The courses are delivered from BITS Pilani Main Campus, Pilani; BITS Pilani Goa Campus and BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus.

Candidates can now seek admissions to Higher Degree Programmes either using a valid GATE score or through BITS HD Test or through both the modes. However, the final admission to a particular programme will only be done on the basis of merit. Candidates have to choose the option at the time of applying.

Almost every candidate will be given a teaching assistantship and/or tuition fee waiver of about Rs. 13,400/- per month, for which the students have to contribute about 8 to 10 hours per week assisting in laboratories, teaching, etc. as assigned by the department.

BITS Higher Degree M.E Admission Test Eligibility Criteria

All Candidates should score a minimum of 60% marks in their qualifying examination. Find below the list of eligibility criteria for each subject.

Biotechnology
Candidate should have successfully completed any integrated first degree of BITS or other equivalent degree with good preparation in Bio-chemistry and Microbiology.
Chemical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Computer Science; Mechanical Engineering
Candidate should have successfully completed an integrated first degree of BITS in the same Engineering discipline (Chemical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Computer Science; Mechanical Engineering) or other equivalent degree.
Communication Engineering
Candidate should have an integrated first degree of BITS in Electronics & Instrumentation or Electrical & Electronics or any other equivalent degree.
Design Engineering; Manufacturing Systems Engineering
Candidate should have successfully completed an integrated first degree of BITS in Mechanical or other equivalent degree or M.Sc. (Tech.) Engineering Technology of BITS or other equivalent degree with the requirement of taking certain additional courses.
Embedded Systems
Candidate should have successfully completed an integrated first degree of BITS in Computer Science or Electronics & Instrumentation or Electrical & Electronics or other equivalent degree.
Microelectronics
Candidate should have successfully completed an integrated first degree of BITS in Physics or Computer Science or Electronics & Instrumentation or Electrical & Electronics or other equivalent degree.
Software Systems
Candidate should have successfully completed an integrated first degree of BITS in any discipline or other equivalent degree with good preparation.

Note: B.E./B.Tech IT degree holders are only eligible to apply for M.E. Software Systems and not eligible for the M.E. Computer science courses. However, they would also require some prior preparation.

BITS Higher Degree M.E Admission Test Application Process

Candidates can apply online by visiting the official website www.bitsadmission.com
Candidates are not required to send any hard copy of the application form. However, it is advisable to keep a print out of the filled in application form for future reference.
Candidates who wish to apply through GATE, are required to enter the details of GATE score while applying.

Note:

Candidate are only allowed to fill in one online application form. Multiple applications of a candidate is liable to be rejected.
Candidates are required to upload scanned images of the signature and photograph in the jpg/jpeg format only. The size of the photo image must be between 10Kb to 30Kb. Size of signature image must be between 2KB to 20KB. Candidates applying through GATE option, should upload the scanned copy of the score card. Size of documents must be between 100Kb to 300Kb.

BITS Higher Degree M.E Application Fees

Candidates applying through GATE score: Rs 1000/-
All others: Rs. 3400/- (including the fees for the BITS HD online test).

The fees can be paid using any of the following modes of payment:

Through online mode using net banking or Credit/Debit Cards
By cash payment at any ICICI Bank branches in India along with a specially generated Pay-in Slip
Payment by Credit Cards and Debit Cards using PayTM

BITS Higher Degree M.E Admission Test Exam Pattern

Test – I
It is a compulsory paper comprising of two sections.

Duration: 45 mins
Total No of questions: 30
Marks: 3 marks for each correct answers and 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer. However, no marks will be awarded or deducted for questions not attempted.
Type of Questions: Objective Multiple Choice Questions

Section Name: English Language Skills & Logical Reasoning

Test II:
Test II is based upon the candidate’s qualifying degree programme. It attempts to test his/her basic knowledge about the subject of his discipline. Therefore, it is a compulsory paper for those applying for all higher degree programmes (except candidates who have only applied for Software systems).
Duration: 105 mins
No. of Questions: 70
Marks: 3 marks for each correct answers and 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer. However, no marks will be awarded or deducted for unattempt questions
Type of Questions: Objective Multiple Choice Questions
Medium of language: English

Special Test for ME Software Systems in BITS Pilani

It is required for the students who have applied for M.E. Software systems.

Duration: 60 mins
Total number of questions: 50
Marks: 3 marks for each correct answers and 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer. However, no marks will be awarded or deducted for unattempt questions
Type of Questions: Objective Multiple Choice Questions
Medium of language: English

** On the successful completion of the test, the computer screen will automatically display the scores obtained by the candidates.

Note:

Candidate are allowed to skip a question, but not allowed to choose more than one option as the correct answer.
The BIT HD questions paper will consist of randomly selected questions from a question bank. Different candidates will have to answer different set of questions. However, the expert committee will ensure that the question sets are of same type, difficulty level, etc.

BITS Higher Degree M.E Admission Test Centers

BITSHD has test centers in several cities in order to facilitate a larger number of students all over India. Candidates are required to give any three preferences and will be allotted to one of the examination centers. However, the final list of the centers will only be announced after receiving all the application forms. The information about the final list of BITSHD test centers will be informed through the official website
