XAT Online: Xavier Aptitude Test

XLRI Jamshedpur administers XAT Online: Xavier Aptitude Test for admission into Management Pogrammes. Generally test is administered in first week of January. Since the past 60 years XLRI is conducting XAT at all India level to shortlist. More than 150 institutes across India accepts XAT score as a measure for eligibility for admission to Post Graduate Management programmes.

XAT Online Registration

XAT application process commences from August and end in November. The application form must be filled online and you have to upload a passport size color photograph along with the signature. The file size should be 50 KB or less. Just log in to xatonline.net.in click on Register, create a new account with your personal email id. Doing so provides you with a unique XAT ID and registration link. As you click on the link, you will be able to create your own password. Do not down this XAT ID and password as it will be needed for future reference. Then select your Citizenship (Indian/ Foreign / NRI).

Note - One point to note here is that those interested to apply for XLRI, should select Business Management (BM)/Human Resource Management (HRM)/Global Business Management(GBM)/General Management Programme (GMP). If you are not keen on taking any of the XLRI programmes simply skip this step.

XAT Online Application Fee

Applicants should note that registration for XAT and appearing for XAT is the preliminary step towards applying to XLRI and XAT Associate Institutes. Applicants to different institutes, besides XLRI have to apply separately to Institutes of their choice. Applicants for XAT can choose to pay online using credit card/ debit card/ online banking etc.

• XAT Registration Fee (without late fee) –Rs. 2000/-   Candidates interested in XLRI programmes needs to pay an additional fee of Rs. 200/- each.
• Fee for Indian Candidates applying for PGDM(GM) through GMAT/GRE– Rs. 2500/-
• Fee for NRI/Foreign Candidates applying for one or more programmes through GMAT– Rs. 5000/-

Paper 1

Paper 1 of XAT has 78 questions that should be completed in 170 minutes. There are 3 sections here- Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability and Decision Making & Analytical Reasoning with 26, 23 and 29 questions respectively.
 
Paper 2 is based on general knowledge and essay writing. There are 25 questions to be completed in 35 minutes. XAT would be easier to attempt than previous exams. Some changes in the marking scheme are expected. But if you leave 13 un-attempted questions, negative marking of 0.05 marks begins from the 14th question onwards. For any wrong answers, negative marking of .25 marks is applicable.

XAT Selection Process

The XAT takers are shortlisted on the basis of their performance and cut off. All XLRI and other XAT participating B-schools have different shortlisting procedures. There is a final GD, PI and or WAT rounds conducted by the B-schools.
