TISS BAT 2019: BA Admission Test

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) conducts Bachelor Admission Test (TISS BAT) 2019 for admission to undergraduate courses offered by TISS - Tuljapur Campus and Guwahati Campus. Candidates must have passed class 12 or must be appearing in the same, and must be below 23 years of age to be eligible for the exam.
TISS BAT 2019 offline exam is scheduled for April 28, 2019 (2pm – 4pm) and online exam is scheduled for  May 11, 2019.

TISS BAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Students should have successfully completed their class 12 or Intermediate in any subject stream from a Recognised Board. Candidates who have studied International Baccalaureate Diploma and will be completing 12th class with clear results declared by June 2019 are also eligible to apply.
Candidates who have appeared for their class 12 or Intermediate final exams and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. If selected, final pass result should be produced at the time of joining the programme.

Age Limit

Candidate should atleast be 23 years or less at the time of appearing for the Bachelors Admission Test, as on April 28, 2019. Applications from candidates over this age will not be entertained.

TISS BA Programme Number of Seats

There is a total of 140 seats in BA Programme in Social Sciences and 40 seats in B.A. (Hons) in Social Work. Find below the details of seats offered by Guwahati and Tuljapur TISS campus:

Note: * The five year integrated BA-MA programme in Social Sciences is terminated at the level of Bachelors degree (Three years).  The programme now will be known as BA in Social Sciences from the academic year 2018-19.

TISS BAT 2019 Application Process

Candidates are required to apply online for BAT 2019 only through the E-application process, on or before March 20, 2019. To apply, click here

Candidates are required to have an authentic email id. Candidates are expected to use the same email id and password for the entire process till the completion of the admission process.
Candidates will have an option to fill the form and complete the processes entirely at one go or fill partially and save the form for completion before the due date. However, candidates are encouraged to complete the process at the earliest and not delay the process of online submission till the final date.
Candidates are expected to give their preference for one centre only in the online application. This preference cannot be changed through a phone call or email or in person.

TISS BAT 2019 Application Fees

General and OBC candidates: Rs. 1025
SC/ ST and OBC (Non-Creamy) candidates whose family income is less than 2.5lakhs and OBC-NC candidates with income less than 1 laks: Rs. 250 + bank charges
Other SC/ST candidates having family income more than 2.5 laks: Rs. 500/-
The fees can be paid online through Credit card/ Debit Card/ Online transaction.
Candidates applying online will be asked to choose between two modes of payment 'Cash' or 'Payment Gateway' in the online application form. If the preferred mode of payment is 'Cash', a payment challan has to be downloaded from the 'Download Challan' tab. Deposit the cash amount mentioned on the challan in any branch of State Bank of India. The bank will return two copies of the challan copy (Student Copy and TISS Copy) with the bank’s seal, signature and journal number on it. Candidates have to then scan the 'TISS Copy' of the challan, login back to the online application system and upload it.
Please note that in case of payment by cash deposit in an SBI branch, the SBI will charge Rs. 50 / - as their processing fee, which has to be paid separately, and is not a part of the application fees.  Candidates who are eligible for application form at concessional fee of Rs. 250 (through Bank challan) have to upload their income and caste certificates. Their application will be accepted upon verification of the certificates and the admit card will be accessible to the candidate thereafter. Applications of candidates who pay by cash will be accepted only after the Institute verifies the challan. The admit card will be accessible to the candidate thereafter.  Payments made via demand draft, pay order or any mode other than the above modes is not acceptable and the application will be rejected. No communication to this effect will be sent to such candidates.  For candidates who pay through payment gateway successfully, the admit card with Registration Number of the candidate, date and time of the test, name of the centre and city will be accessible in the online application.
For candidates who pay through cash the admit card will be accessible once their challan has been verified.
For candidates who are eligible for Concessional application, the admit card will be accessible once their certificates are checked and verified. Candidates are expected to print their admit card and bring it for the TISS- BAT and keep it for verification till the completion of the admission, if selected.  Candidates who reach the BAT centre with no admit card and proofs of identity will not be allowed to sit for the test.  No admit cards will be mailed or posted by the institution.  Those candidates who face technical difficulties while processing their payments or accessing their application or have not received their Admit card through mail may register their complaint by sending an email to the technical support team. The id is part of the online application.
Note:
Application forms received after the due date will not be considered and the application fees paid will also not be refunded.
Application fee paid by the candidates will not be refunded if they are found to be not eligible for the programme.
Candidates submitting E-application in multiple numbers will be disqualified.
Incomplete application forms and forms with inconsistent information will be rejected.
Application fee will not be refunded if the candidate does not appear for the written test or fails to join the programme if admitted.
Photograph for Admit Card: Photograph with the following specifications needs to be uploaded along with the application form.
a. The photograph should be a recent color photograph taken against a plain background.
b. The photograph should show only your face and shoulders.
c. The photograph should not have any other object or person in part or full.
d. The photograph should be a good resolution; clear photograph in png, jpeg format and its size should not exceed 2MB.

TISS BAT 2019 Test Centres

A computer based entrance test will be held on April 28, 2019 at designated Test Centres. Candidat es are expected to give preference for one centre in the online application. Candidates cannot change this choice through a phone call or email or in person. The Institute reserves the right to direct the candidate to one of the Centres chosen by the candidate or to another nearest Centre.

TISS BAT 2019 Selection Process

The first stage is the entrance test which will be of 90 minutes duration and the total marks will be 100. There will be two parts A & B.
Part A – The Part A question paper will comprise of multiple choice questions on current affairs, social awareness and logical and analytical reasoning, carrying 60 marks.
Duration: 60 minutes
Part B – The Part B will comprise of descriptive questions in English. Candidate are required to write two short answers carrying 40 marks. It is compulsory for the candidates to attempt both the parts and make sure that they qualify in both the modes.
Duration: 30 minutes
Note: Both Part A & Part B will have separate cut off marks for evaluation.

I haven't Appeared for / received Final Semester Marksheet , What do i upload?

For 4 YEAR Courses :
For students in a 4 Year Graduation Course who will be able to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor's Degree examinations by Saturday, June 12, 2017
Candidates in the Final Year(4th year) are requested to upload previous year(3rd year) Marksheet and should be all clear.

For 3 YEAR Courses:
For students in a 3 Year Graduation Course who will be able to complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor's Degree examinations by Saturday, June 12, 2017
Candidates in the Final Year are requested to upload Second year Marksheet(whichever latest marksheet they have) and should be all clear.

How many seats are reserved for SC/ST/OBC/PWD?

For SC (15%), ST (7.5%), OBC(NC) (27%) and PWD (3% i.e. 1% in each category of a) Low vision / blindness, b) Hearing Impairment, and c) Locomotor Disability / Cerebral Palsy) as per Government of India (Goi) rules. The reservation for Kashmiri Migrants (KM) 1 % and Armed Forced 5% subject to the Government of India (Goi) Directives.

What are the facilities available for SC / ST / OBC (Non-creamy Layer) / Religious Minority / PWD candidates?

We conduct post-admission orientation programme, remedial coaching classes and various need based programmes. Besides, scholarship for eligible students as per GOI rules.

Do you have any management / NRI / Ex-Serviceman quota?

Do you offer admission to Deputed / Sponsored Candidates?

In the case of Government Officers/employees from Departments of Education/SCERTs/DIETs, Teachers and Resources Persons applying for the M.A. Education (Elementary)/all other programmes filled application forms may be sent via the relevant authority nominating the candidates. The selection of such candidates will be through a suitable screening process comprising documentary evidence of interest and motivation of the programme or an interview.

What should I do if I face a Document upload issue?
Candidates are requested to follow the following steps :
Step 1 : Check the list of documents to be uploaded and keep it ready before the log in process.
Step 2 : It is advisable to complete the application process in one session to minimize the possibility of document not being uploaded.
Step 3 : If the candidate closes the application form during the process with / without uploading all the required documents - then make sure to check if those documents were successfully uploaded when you log in the next time.
Step 4 : If Document upload fails once, you are advised to check the size or resolution or the file type of the documents you are uploading (check FAQ for size and format guidelines) and re upload the documents. Even if the size and resolution is correct please try uploading once more.
Step 5 : In case, the Candidate is not able to upload documents even after following the above steps then the documents can be e-mailed to pgadmission@tiss.edu from  the candidate’s registered email id -
