EXADEP™ Test
The EXADEP™ (Examen de Admision a Estudios de Posgrado™) test is a graduate admission test required for admission to graduate programs taught in Spanish. This test assesses the quantitative verbal and analytical reasoning skills of the candidates who wish to go for graduate studies and scholarship programs in higher education institutions in Europe, Puerto Rico, the US and Latin America, where the language of instruction is Spanish.

click hereSpanish-speaking pupils who want to go for graduate or professional studies undertake the EXADEP™ test. The EXADEP™ test is a paper-delivered test that is held seven times in a year in February, March, May, June, August, October and December.
EXADEP™ Test Structure
The EXADEP™ test comprises of five sections:
- Mathematics
- Verbal Aptitude
- Written Expression
- Analytical Reasoning
- English as a foreign language
Four parts of the test are conducted in Spanish and one part is conducted in English as a foreign language.
- Duration: 4 hours and 5 minutes
Verbal Aptitude
This section requires candidate’s to understand the written material, produce information from it and find out the relationship between different parts of the given sentences. This section has 2 parts:
- Part 1 comprises sentence completion, antonyms and analogies.
- Part 2 includes reading comprehension
The verbal aptitude questions are based on three subject areas: natural sciences, humanities and social sciences.
- Duration: 90 minutes

Mathematics
This section assesses the mathematical knowledge and skills. The basic mathematical concepts and the ability to solve problems quantitatively are tested based on algebra, geometry and algebra at a general level.
- Duration: 40 minutes

Analytical Reasoning
This section assesses the analytical thinking skills. In this section, candidates are required to draw inference and think logically based on a partially set scenario.

Written Expression
This section assesses the ability to identify the language use that is vital to a finished writing piece which would be accepted by many writers of Spanish and educated readers. This section has two parts:
- Part 1 is use of language
- Part 2 is sentence correction
Candidates are required to recognize the language use and correct the sentences in the finished writing piece.
- Duration: 30 minutes
- No. of questions: 50
English
This section requires the candidates to understand the written text and synthesize information received from it and find out the relationship between different parts of the sentences given. This section has two parts:
- Part 1 includes sentence completion and antonyms
- Part 2 includes reading comprehension
This section is in English as a foreign language.
- Duration: 45 minutes
- No. of questions: 50

Registration
Candidates are required to fill an EXADEP™ registration form. The registration form can be obtained by sending an email to
[email protected]. Fill in the form completely, do not forget to put your signature and send it along with the required fees to the address mentioned on the registration form. Read the instructions carefully to fill the form and fill it accordingly.
Candidates who want to study at the following institutions must contact their respective admission office to know the EXADEP™ test registration process:

When the ETS receives the payment and form, an approval email which has your name, address, test date and time, date of birth, instructions and test center will be sent by the ETS Puerto Rico office. On the test day, you’re required to carry a copy of this approval email in order to complete the registration.
Admission Ticket: After you receive the admission ticket, go through it carefully. Check whether all information is correct or not, and if there is any error found then notify it to the ETS Puerto Rico office. Fill the Change and Correction

Candidates with Disability and Health-Related Needs
Such candidates in order to get special test accommodation are required to fill the testing accommodations
request form.
The testing accommodations offered are: 18 pt. large-print test book, answer sheet, writer or reader for answers, oral or sign language interpreter, written instructions for spoken part only, and extended test time and break
Request for a special testing accommodation must be made prior to the test date. Candidates with health-related needs or disabilities are required to submit the following documents:
- Registration form
- Accommodation request form
- Test fee
- An evaluation from an authorized professional in the specific field, attesting the nature and disability, and the need for special arrangement
Once the ETS receives the documentation, after 2 weeks you will get a letter of determination. This is valid for 2 years, and can be mentioned when registering for other testing sessions.

Fees

Acceptable Payment Forms
Candidates can pay the fees using any of the following:
- Credit/Debit Card: MasterCard�, American Express�, JCB�, Visa�, or Discover�.
- Money Order
- Certified check: Check must include test taker name and registration number (which appears on the registration form), bank name and number, and the check date should not be more than 90 days old.
**All the payments must be made in US dollar.
Rescheduling
Candidates can reschedule the test within same testing year by paying extra fee between, July-June, if they were not able to take the test on set date. Fill in a new registration form for rescheduling and submit it along with the old admission ticket.
Scoring and Results
EXADEP™ test scores are mailed in about 15 to 20 working days after the test conducted in March, August, February, May and October. Scores of the test held in June and December are mailed in 30 to 35 working days.
Scores are also mailed to the higher education institutions, mentioned by you on your registration form.
Scoring of the test is a two-step process:
- Step 1: Calculation of raw score for each section
The raw scores are calculated based on a number of questions answered correctly.
- Step 2: Conversion to scaled scores
The computed raw scores are converted into the scaled score by a process called as “equating” The scaled scores are:
Range for each section: four a sub-scores on a 20–80 score scale, in one-point increments:
- English
- Verbal aptitude
- Analytical reasoning and Mathematics
- Written expression
Total scaled score on a 200–800, in 1-point increments
Total score calculation: Each section score is multiplied by each section weight.

Official Score Record: Official score record is sent to the candidates. It includes your name, date of birth, address, gender, test date and EXADEP™ test score.
Test Day Essentials
- A valid identity card (Original and photocopy): Passport, province or state identity card, government-issued driver’s license, military or national identity card are accepted. Student identity card or identity confirmation letter from the candidates’ educational institution is also acceptable.
