National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language

National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language (NCPSL) was established on 26th May 1994 as an autonomous registered body under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India.

Objectives of NCPSL

The objectives of the council are :

To work on knowledge of scientific and technological advances in Sindhi language as well as knowledge of ideas developed in modern terms.
To promote develop and propagate Sindhi Language.
To advise the Government of India on issues connected with Sindhi Language and having bearing on education as may be ferred to it.
To undertake any activity for the promotion of Sindhi Language as may be deemed as fit by the council‘

Sindhi Chairs in various states

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer

The Sindhi Chair has been established in Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati University Ajmer during July, 2015. The Thrust area of Sindhi Chair (Sindhi Shodh Peeth) will be research, teaching, translation and extension activities etc. through Sindhi, English and Hindi languages. The objective of this Chair (Sindhi Shodh Peeth) is to provide well equipped Centre for learning to students, academicians, intellectuals to undertake studies and research work on the subjects related to Sindhi language, Literature, Art, Culture, Music, Drama, Society, Education, History of Sindhi population.

Indira Gandhi National Open University

In 2014 the establishment of Sindhi Chair in IGNOU was approved with a corpus of Rs.1.00 crore initially which has been enhanced to Rs.2.00 crore by providing two installments of Rs.50.00 lakh each during 2016-17.

Devi Ahiliya Viswavidhalaya, Indore

A Sindhi Chair was established in Devi Ahiliya Viswavidhalaya, Indore with a corpus of Rs.1.00 crore provided by NCPSL. MoU was signed on 07.11.2015.

Central University of Gujarat

A Centre for Sindhi language and literature has been established in Central University Gujarat, Gandhinagar with a corpus of Rs.1.00 crore.
