LNJN National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science

The National Institute of Criminology & Forensic Science was set up in January 1972 as a comprehensive facility for teaching, training, research and consultancy in the fields of Criminology & Forensic Science to meet the ground level requirements of the Criminal Justice Administration of the country. The Institute functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India as an attached office.

The Institute was renamed as National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science (NICFS) in 1991 and again renamed after Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan in 2003.

NICFS Programs

Since 2004, the Institute has been offering M.A./M.Sc. degree courses in Criminology and Forensic Science, which are open to general public.

Admission in NICFS

NICFS will conduct an All-India qualifying test FACT and FACT Plus for the persons having post graduate degree in specified disciplines of Science from recognized Universities or Colleges. The services of qualified candidates may be utilized on need basis to assist Forensic Scientists in expediting the disposal of pending cases at various CFSLs and FSLs in India.
