UPSC Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) of India administers Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination twice every year. These examinations are called CDS Examination-I and CDS-Examination-II. A candidate can write any test depending on his / her availability. The CDS Examination is two stage selection test; at Stage one written test is administered. The candidates who qualify in the written are called by the commission to undergo for Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview. Finally selected candidates, depending on choices, preferences, eligibility and availability are offered admission into courses offered by following institutes
The CDS Examination counts on Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for testing; wrong answers attract penalty. Here are details.

The UPSC administers CDS Examination across following cities:
Agartala, Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Allahabad, Bengaluru, Bareilly, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cuttack, Dehradun, Delhi, Dharwad, Dispur, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Jaipur, Jammu, Jorhat, Kochi, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji (Goa), Patna, Port Blair, Raipur, Ranchi, Sambalpur, Shillong, Shimla, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Udaipur and Visakhapatnam
Eligibility CDS Examination
The Indian nationals including subjects of Nepal, Bhutan and refugees who are settelled in India and considered as Indian nationals according to constitution of India are eligible to write CDS Examination. Minnimum qualification to appear for this test is a pass in college degree examination from any recognied university. Detailed educational requirement is given below
(i) For I.M.A. Dehradun and Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai— Degree of a recognised University or equivalent.
(ii) For Indian Naval Academy—Degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution.
(iii) For Air Force Academy—Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10 plus 2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Examination Fee CDS Examination
To appear for CDS Examination candidates are required to submit an examination fee of Rs. 200 either in Cash at Designated SBI Branches or using SBI netbanking facility. Fees can also be using Credit Card / Debit Card etc. Female/SC/ST/PwD candidates are not required to pay examination fee.

The CDS Examination asks Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in following study areas.

- General Knowledge
- Elementary Mathematics
Time allowed for each section is 2 hours and maximum marks awarded for each section are 100. Thus, written examination is of maximum 300 marks.
Question Paper Pattern CDS Examination for OTA
The CDS Examination asks Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in following study areas.
Time

section are 100. Thus, written examination is of maximum 200 marks.
SSB Interview is held at one of the service selection centres for candidates qualified in the written test.
How to apply for CDS Examination
The application process for CDS examination is completely online. Candidates require to log on to UPSC Form filling website and read and follow instructions carefully for a successful application. A valid email id and mobile number is mandatory for registration. UPSC will send all future communication regarding this examination on your registered email and phone.

Admit Card CDS Examination
The UPSC uploads e-admit cards of successful applicants on its official portal and notifies through email and SMS. A detailed press release is also published on official website related availability of e-admit cards. Candidates need to download and print copy of admit card and carry on the exam day to exam centre. The admit card is very important document and shall be prevented till admission procedure is over.
Result CDS Examination
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) publishes detailed merit list of CDS aspirants qualified in the written examination and names of recommended candidates.
