Directorate General Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes

The Directorate General, Factory Advice Service and Labour Institutes, was setup in 1945 as the Chief Adviser of factories. The main objective is that of advising Central And State Governments on administration of the Factories Act and coordinating the factory inspection services in the States. Headquartered in Mumbai, DGFASLI maintains overall liaison with its Central and Regional Labour Institutes, frames policy, plans and executes the program concerning the organization on matters pertaining to safety, health and welfare of workers in industries and docks and implements technical projects and liaises with national and international agencies.

The Directorate General, Factory Advice and Labour Institutes (DGFASLI) comprises:

Headquarters situated in Mumbai
Central Labour Institute in Mumbai
Regional Labour Institutes in Chennai, Kanpur, Kolkatta and Faridabad

DGFASLI is an attached office of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India and serves as a technical arm to assist the Ministry in formulating national policies on occupational safety and health in factories and docks. It also advises factories on various problems concerning safety, health, efficiency and well - being of the persons at work places.

INDOSHNET

The The Ministry of Labour, Government of India , has established a National Network on Occupational Safety & Health information system known as " INDOSHNET "-Indian Occupational Safety And Health Information Network. Directorate General Factory Advice Service & Labour Institutes (DGFASLI),is the facilitator of the network and the sharing of Occupational Safety and Health (OS&H) information is based on no-profit no-loss basis with the view to pooling information resources for mutual benefit. The sharing of information will not only confine to the national level but also includes international sources.
