Sponsorships
Sponsorship is provided to students who cannot support their education
independently due to financial crises. There are various agencies and
organizations that Sponsor a student’s education by empowering and
supporting them in times of crises. The sponsoring agencies in this case
looks for potential donors who can sponsor education for a long or
shot term. With the help of this money, students can get access to
primary, secondary, high and even university level education.
Furthermore,
through various Sponsoring programs, a student can get reliable and
independent in the later years of his or her life. Therefore, students
can get sustainable financial support for their education. One of the
earliest child Sponsorship charities was Children International, which
was established in 1936.
Working of the Sponsoring Agency
Initially, the Sponsoring
agency chooses those students who needs to be Sponsored and then their
profiles are sent to the relevant Sponsors. Afterwards, it is the
responsibility of the agency to transfer money of the Sponsors to the
Sponsored student and to manage each and every communication between
them.
However, the working of a charity highly varies from each
other. As some agencies work through a community development program and
the others have a more individualized approach. Moreover, many agencies
use the funds for community development programs and do not keep
direct relation with students, while some use the funds directly for
students and help them with education personally. In most of the cases,
students benefit from community development programs such as funded
schools, health programs, free of cost uniforms, free meals, medical
store, etc.
Eligibility
In order to be a Sponsored student various agencies follow some basic eligibility criteria. Few of which include,
- Being an orphan
- Belonging to a low income family
- Having an interest for studies, and
- Exploring more options into the educational field
Henceforth,
the basic goal of the Sponsoring agencies is to support a child and the
family in order to break the cycle of poverty, and help them to be self
dependent individuals throughout their life. And this goal is usually
in support of all the children, despite their religion, race, caste,
ethnic background or gender. In this case, students do not only get the
benefits of education but all round development as well.
Therefore,
students who cannot afford their education and development
independently, belong to low income families or do not have parents, can
avail this opportunity. Sponsorship as an educational fund will help
them to progress well in life and support their education throughout.
