THE University Impact Rankings 2021

The Time Higher Education (THE) has released University Impact Rankings 2021. A total of 57 Indian Universities finds place in the THE Impact Rankings 2021. Following are the highlights. 
  • Record 1,240 universities from 98 countries and regions ranked on work towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across 18 tables in Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2021 – an overall ranking and one for each of the 17 SDGs.
  • Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham comes 81st in overall ranking table from 1,115 institutions and is in top 10 in world (=5th) for SDG4 (Quality Education) and SDG5 (Gender Equality) (8th) 
  • JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research in the top 100 for five individual SDG tables
  • 10 Indian universities achieve combined 20 top 100 positions across rankings tables
  • SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) – Four Indian universities in top 100 for second year running
  • India is the third most represented country or region in the rankings (57 participating universities).
  • United Kingdom’s University of Manchester tops overall global table as seven countries are represented in top 10
  • Global importance of higher education evident as 24 countries from six continents appear in overall ranking top 100.

"Indian universities are showing their commitment towards a sustainable future in force, with the third highest number of participating universities from any country or region to qualify in at least one of the individual SDG tables. In total, 57 Indian universities participated, more than double the total of last year (28 universities in 2020), the second biggest increase of any other country or region (second to Russia, 33)", quotes THE official release.
