Computer Network Architects

Computer network architects or network engineers are workers responsible for building local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and intranets of an organization. These networks may be small engaging few computers or of very large capacity engaging million computers and computer networks. In work environment computer network engineer performs following types of activities-

• Build layout for data communication network
• Discuss with management regarding pros and cons of a communication channel
• Draw maps regarding how cables will be laid and other hardware will be added
• Decides which hardware should be used in building a communication network
• Conduct research about new technologies related network engineering

Skills Required to be Computer Network Architects

Academic requirements: Bachelors degree in computer sciences or an engineering degree in computer engineering or a degree in information sciences is minimum requirement to be successful Computer Network Architect. Higher qualification like an MS or PhD has an edge over graduates in industry while applying for job.
