Candidates should have successfully completed their graduation in any discipline from a recognized board or university.

Assistant Station Master Exam Pattern
The exam for the recruitment of ASM is done in three rounds of selection process, i.e., Preliminary Examination, Mains Examination and Personal Interview.Prelims Exam:
Candidates are required to answer 100 Objective type Questions in a duration of 90 minutes. The marks scored in the Prelims exam is just for qualifying to enter the main examination and not included in the final merit list.Mains Exams:
Candidates who qualify the prelims are selected for the main exams. The marks obtained in the Mains Exam will have 70% weightage in the final merit list.Personal Interview:
The candidates after qualifying in the Mains Exams are called for the Personal interview. It contains 30% weightage on the Merit List.
The final merit list is therefore prepared according to the marks secured in the Mains Exam and the Personal Interview.
