The Assistant Station Master (ASM) plays an important role in the functioning of Indian Railways. Assistant Station Master Pay Scale
The Assistant Station Master (ASM) of Indian Railways receive an initial pay of Rs.5,200/- to Rs.20,200/- (Grade Pay: Rs 2800/-) plus various other benefits that include:

- Free/Discounted railway travel for employee and their dependents
- Pension after retirement to employee and after employee to dependent
- Official Quarter to stay
- All medical expenses of the employee and their dependents

Educational Qualification
Candidates should have successfully completed their graduation in any discipline from a recognized board or university.
Age Limit
The age of the candidate should be between 18-32 years as on 1st January of the year of applying. Age relaxation for reserved category candidates are applicable as per the Government of India rules.
Nationality
Only candidates with Indian citizenship are eligible to apply.
Selection Process of Assistant Station Master
The Selection Process for the Recruitment of Assistant Station Manager in Railways includes the following stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Mains Examination
- Personal Interview
Assistant Station Master Exam Pattern
The exam for the recruitment of ASM is done in three rounds of selection process, i.e., Preliminary Examination, Mains Examination and Personal Interview.
Prelims Exam: Candidates are required to answer 100 Objective type Questions in a duration of 90 minutes. The marks scored in the Prelims exam is just for qualifying to enter the main examination and not included in the final merit list.
Mains Exams: Candidates who qualify the prelims are selected for the main exams. The marks obtained in the Mains Exam will have 70% weightage in the final merit list.
Personal Interview: The candidates after qualifying in the Mains Exams are called for the Personal interview. It contains 30% weightage on the Merit List.
The final merit list is therefore prepared according to the marks secured in the Mains Exam and the Personal Interview.
