JEE Main: Joint Entrance Examination (Main)

The Joint Entrance Examination - JEE Main, previously known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is one of the most important entrance test for all engineering aspirants who wish to take admissions in various undergraduate programmes (Bachelor of Engineering - B.E. and Bachelor of Technology - B.Tech.) of engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and many other engineering institutions across India that are centrally funded CFTIs. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from 2020 onwards. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.

About JEE (Main) in brief

The JEE (Main) will be conducted twice before admissions in the next academic session.

The students will have following benefits of the new pattern:

  1. Candidates will give one more opportunity to improve their scores in examination if they fail to give their best in first attempt without wasting their whole academic year.
  2. The candidates will get a first-hand experience of taking an examination in the first attempt, and to know their mistakes which they can improve while attempting for the second time.
  3. It will reduce the chances of dropping a year and droppers would not have to waste a full year.
  4. He/she won’t have to wait for one full year, if anyone had to miss the examination due to reasons beyond control.
  5. The best part is that the candidates best of the two NTA scores will be considered for preparation of the Merit List/Ranking.
Those Candidates who could not appear in the JEE (Main) January Examination, may appear
in JEE (Main) April Examination. The candidates who have already appeared in JEE (Main) January Examination, if they wish, may also appear in JEE (Main) April Examination for improvement. The candidate's best of the two NTA scores will be taken into consideration for preparing of Merit List/Ranking.
