Joint Entrance Examination (Main) - JEE Main 2019 April Testing

The Joint Entrance Examination - JEE Main, previously known as All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) is one of the most important entrance test for all engineering aspirants who wish to take admissions in various undergraduate programmes (Bachelor of Engineering - B.E. and Bachelor of Technology - B.Tech.) of engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and many other engineering institutions across India that are centrally funded CFTIs. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) MAIN will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) from 2019 onwards. This Examination was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018.

Clearing JEE Main also makes them eligible to sit for the JEE advanced which is the entrance exam to secure admissions in all the IITs and the Indian School of Mines (ISM). The candidates who are the top 1,50,000 score holders in the JEE Main are the ones who are eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced level exam. No weightage will be given to marks scored in class 12th board exam for calculating All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Main 2019.

About JEE (Main) – 2019

The JEE (Main)-2019 will be conducted twice before admissions in the next academic session.

The students will have following benefits of the new pattern:

  1. Candidates will give one more opportunity to improve their scores in examination if they fail to give their best in first attempt without wasting their whole academic year.
  2. The candidates will get a first-hand experience of taking an examination in the first attempt, and to know their mistakes which they can improve while attempting for the second time.
  3. It will reduce the chances of dropping a year and droppers would not have to waste a full year.
  4. He/she won’t have to wait for one full year, if anyone had to miss the examination due to reasons beyond control.
  5. The best part is that the candidates best of the two NTA scores will be considered for preparation of the Merit List/Ranking.
The first attempt of JEE (Main) – 2019 was held from 8th January, 2019 to 12th January, 2019. The result of the first attempt of JEE (Main)-2019 was declared on 19th January, 2019 (for Paper-1) and 31st January, 2019 (for Paper–2).

The second attempt of JEE (Main) – 2019 will be held from 7th April, 2019 to 20th April, 2019. The test will be held on different shifts/dates in both the attempts.

Those Candidates who could not appear in the JEE (Main) January 2019 Examination, may appear
in JEE (Main) April 2019 Examination. The candidates who have already appeared in JEE (Main) January 2019 Examination, if they wish, may also appear in JEE (Main) April 2019 Examination for improvement. The candidate's best of the two NTA scores will be taken into consideration for preparing of Merit List/Ranking.

How to make the payment for JEE Main 2019

One can do a credit/debit card payment for JEE Main 2019 or can even deposit cash at the Syndicate/Canara/ ICICI/ HDFC bank using the e-Challan generated while applying for it online. An additional processing amount of 1.20% of the examination fees is charged if the payment is done through credit or debit cards and the application fee is non-refundable.

The candidate can submit only one application form and hence multiple application forms from the same candidate will get rejected. The name of the candidate in the form should match with the class 12 exam registration. Since the application form is completely online, it is not required to send the hardcopy of the confirmation to the JEE Main office.

The application number which is printed on the confirmation page must be used for any correspondence with the JEE (Main) office. Hence, it is important to keep the application number. The candidate can check the status of the application form on the JEE Main website by using the date of birth and the application number.
