Indian Navy Matric Recruits Sailor Recruitment

The MR (Matric Recruits) is junior most rank in Indian Navy. There are three categories in MR. They are:
  1. Chef (MR)
  2. Steward (MR)
  3. Sanitary Hygienist (MR)
Chef (MR): The responsibility of a Chef (MR) is to prepare food for Sailors. However, it is not like that of a chef in a 5 star hotel. They required to prepare food as per menu (vegetarian and non-vegetarian including handling of meat products), and accounting of ration. The meal starts with the tea at 5 am, breakfast by 6.30am, lunch by 12.30 pm, tea with snacks by 3 pm and dinner by 6pm. Food has to be prepared in holidays and Sundays too. The chefs are in addition trained in fire arms and are allotted other duties for efficient running of organization.

Steward (MR): The Steward (MR) prepare food for the officers. As far as the cooking is concerned they are a little relaxed as compared to that of the chefs as officers are less in number. They are required to    serve food in the officers messes, work as housekeeping, waiters, handles funds, handles wine and stores, prepares the menu etc. The Steward are in addition trained in fire arms and are allotted other duties for efficient running of organization.

Sanitary Hygienist (MR): The Sanitary Hygienist are responsible  for the cleanliness and maintain hygiene in wash-rooms and other areas. The Sanitary Hygienist are in addition trained in fire arms and are allotted other duties for efficient running of organization.

MR (Matric Recruits) Sailor in Indian Navy Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: Indian

Age: 17-21 years as on the day of enrollment

Qualification: Candidates should have successfully completed their Class X from a recognized educational Central/State Government board.

MR (Matric Recruits) Sailor in Indian Navy Education Opportunities

The MR in Indian Navy are eligible to pursue various professional courses as per Service requirement. The candidates will be provided with certificates on successful completion of courses that are equivalent to various Universities are being awarded on successful completion of courses. They will receive the "Graduation Equivalent Certificate" on retirement after completion of 15 years of service.

MR (Matric Recruits) Sailor in Indian Navy Training & Advancement

Candidates are required to undergo 14 weeks Basic Training at INS Chilka, They should also be enrolled for a professional training in the allotted trade (as per the requirement of Service) in various Naval Training Establishments.

  1. Nature of Matter, Universe (Planets/Earth/ Satellites/ Sun), Electricity and its applications

  2. Force and Gravitation, Newton's Laws Of Motion, Work, Energy and Power

  3. Heat, Temperature, metals and Non-Metals, Carbon and its Compounds, Measurements in Science, Sound & Wave Motion, Atomic Structure

  4. Mathematical Simplification, Ratio and Proportion, Algebraic Identities, Linear Equations and Polynomials, Simultaneous Equations, Basic Trigonometry

  5. Simple Mensuration, Geometry, Measures of Central Tendency (Average, Median and Mode)

  6. Interest, Profit, Loss and Percentage, Work, Time, Speed and Distance

Section B - General Awareness

  1. Geography: Soil, Rivers, Mountains, Ports, Inland, Harbours

  2. Culture and Religion, Freedom Movement, Important National Facts about India, Heritage, Arts and Dance

  3. History, Defence, Wars and neighbours, Awards and Authors, Discoveries, Diseases and Nutrition

  4. Current Affairs, Languages, Capitals and Currencies, Common Names, Full Forms and Abbreviations

  5. Eminent Personalities, National: Bird/Animal/Sport/Flower/Anthem/Song/Flag/Monuments

  6. Sports : Championships / Winners/Terms/ Number of Players
