NEET-UG 2020: National Eligibility cum Entrance Test

The NEET-UG 2020 National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test  will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to Under Graduate Medical programmes. Till 2018, the test was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The NEET (UG) is conducted for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.

The NTA's responsibility will be limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and providing All India Rank (AIR) to the Directorate General Health Services, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for supplying the result to state/other Counselling Authorities.

Important Dates: NEET UG 2020

  • Start date for submission of NEET UG 2020 Online Application Form: 2nd December 2019
  • Last Date for submission of NEET UG 2020 Online Application Form: 31st December 2019
  • NEET UG 2020 Exam Dates for admission into Under Graduate Medical Programmes: 3rd May 2020
  • Duration of Examination: 3 Hours
  • NEET UG 2020 Result: 4th June 2020

Apart from the MBBS and BDS Courses, NEET 2020 Rank is also required for admission into AYUSH (Ayurvedic, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) Undergraduate courses.

NEET UG 2020 Fee Details

The NTA charge an examination fee from candidates towards NEET UG 2020 administration. Fees can be paid using Net Banking, Credit Card, Debit Card etc. Fees can also be paid through E-Challan of State Bank of India (SBI). Following amound should be paid by test takers

FOR GENERAL/OBC: Rs 1400/-
FOR SC/ST/PH: Rs. 700/-

NEET UG 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for NEET UG 2020 given below:

Minimum Age Requirement: 17 years as on December 31, 2019.
Candidates must be born on or before January 1, 2003.

Maximum Age Limit: According to new directives of Honorable Supreme Court of India, the candidates above 25 years of age can also apply to appear for NEET UG 2020. However, final decision about restrictions on upper age limit will be notified later.

Unreserved candidates must be born on or after May 7, 1994 and Reserved candidates must be born on or after May 7, 1989.

Qualifying Exam: 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as core subjects in both Classes 11 and 12 from a recognized Board. Candidates from Open School Board are also eligible to apply. But matter related Open School candidates is still pending in Honorable Supreme Court of India.

Qualifying Marks: UR - 50%, OBC/SC/ST - 40%, PWD - 45% (minimum aggregate marks only for PCB subjects)

Nationality: Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs & Foreign Nationals

NEET UG 2020 Syllabus

Based on 10+2 syllabus, the candidates are tested on Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

NEET UG 2020 Exam Pattern

  1. Examination duration: 3 hours.
  2. The paper will be having 180 questions of MCQ type.
  3. You will get 4 marks for correct answer and -1 mark for the wrong answer.
  4. NEET 2020 question paper is divided into 4 sections which are as follows-
Botany: 45 questions, Physics: 45 questions, Zoology: 45 questions, Chemistry: 45 questions.

  • NEET UG 2020 Application procedure is online only.
  • Must preserve the following documents:
  • 4 printed copies of Confirmation Page related application form is submitted successfully
  • Proof of fee paid
  • 5 identical copies of photograph that was scanned and uploaded with application form.
  • Copies of system generated self declaration if applying under 15% quota seats for Jammu and Kashmir
